2:05. The Eaton 93PS is Eaton's compact modular double-conversion three-phase UPS with hot-swappable power modules, in an 8 to 40 kilowatt range, three-phase in and out. This video covers the module swap, the unity power factor rating, what Eaton publishes about efficiency and noise, and whether it is current.
0:00 What is the Eaton 93PS? What is the Eaton 93PS? It is Eaton's compact modular double-conversion three-phase UPS, three-phase in and three-phase out, covering 8 to 40 kilowatts.
0:10 What does modular mean here? What does modular mean here? The power modules are hot-swappable. Eaton publishes an effective replacement time near zero, and the module swap itself typically takes under ten minutes, so the frame stays in service while a module changes. Every model also carries built-in back-feed protection, to IEC 62040-1, as Eaton publishes.
0:33 Why does the kilowatt rating matter? Why does the kilowatt rating matter? The 93PS carries a unity output power factor. In Eaton's words, that is up to 20 percent more real power than many UPS in its class, so a given frame supports more kilowatts of IT load.
0:48 How efficient is it? How efficient is it? Above 96 percent in plain double conversion, and up to 99 percent with Eaton's optional Energy Saver System. What does Eaton publish about that mode? The transfer back to full double conversion takes under two milliseconds when the load needs it.
1:04 And at low load, or in a quiet room? And at low load, or in a quiet room? Eaton's Variable Module Management System keeps efficiency high at low or redundant load, and Eaton publishes acoustic noise under 60 decibels in double conversion and under 47 in Energy Saver System.
1:20 Is it current? Is it current? Eaton lists the 93PS on its international sites. In North America at 208 volts, Eaton's current range is the 93PM, which covers 10 to 200 kilowatts.
1:34 Who is it for, and how does it scale? Who is it for, and how does it scale? Sites that need online double-conversion protection in the 8 to 40 kilowatt band, where a compact frame matters. Up to eight frames run in parallel with Eaton HotSync, for a system of up to 320 kilowatts.

3:15. The Eaton 93PS and the APC Galaxy VS are both modular double-conversion three-phase UPS in the small to mid band. This video compares their size bands, input voltages, battery architecture, published efficiency and status, with every figure quoted as its maker publishes it.
0:00 93PS or Galaxy VS: which one fits your room? Eaton 93PS or APC Galaxy VS: which one fits your room? Both are modular double-conversion three-phase UPS in the small to mid band, and both are listed as current by their makers, the 93PS on the Eaton international sites and the Galaxy VS in Canada. What separates them is band, voltage, and battery architecture.
0:23 How do their sizes compare? How do their sizes compare? The 93PS runs from 8 to 40 kilowatts, three-phase in and three-phase out. The Galaxy VS spans from about 10 to 150 kilowatts depending on voltage, in 208, 400 and 480 volt models. On paper the two bands overlap between 10 and 40 kilowatts, so both makers play in the same room there; above 40 kilowatts, the Galaxy VS continues alone.
0:51 And the type of each? And the type of each? The 93PS is a compact modular UPS with hot-swappable power modules; Eaton publishes an effective replacement time near zero, and the swap itself typically under ten minutes. The Galaxy VS is a modular UPS whose 10 to 100 kilowatt models carry internal smart modular battery strings, so the cabinet is a self-contained UPS with its batteries.
1:17 How efficient is each one, as published? How efficient is each one, as published? Eaton publishes above 96 percent in double conversion for the 93PS, and up to 99 percent with the optional Energy Saver System. Schneider Electric publishes up to 99 percent for the Galaxy VS in eConversion, which has been the Galaxy V series factory default since 2022. Each maker publishes figures in the maker's own modes, and this video reports them as published.
1:46 Is each one current? Is each one current? Eaton lists the 93PS on the international sites. In North America at 208 volts, Eaton's current range is the 93PM, which covers 10 to 200 kilowatts. That status line is dated, and it matters for planning. Schneider Electric lists the Galaxy VS as a current range in Canada, and names it as the replacement for the discontinued MGE Galaxy 3500 and Galaxy 5000.
2:16 Who is each one for? Who is each one for? The 93PS fits sites that need online protection in the 8 to 40 kilowatt band, where a compact frame matters. The Galaxy VS fits edge rooms and small to medium data centres across the wider 10 to 150 kilowatt span and the extra input voltages.
2:36 So how do you choose? So how do you choose? By band and voltage first: the 93PS is the 8 to 40 kilowatt band; the Galaxy VS continues to about 150 kilowatts and adds 400 and 480 volt inputs. Then the battery architecture: internal smart strings versus a separate cabinet. Both are checkable from the rows in this video. If you are sizing one of the two, request a quote at threephaseups.ca.
2:03. On an Eaton 93PS the manual draws a hard line: there are no user-serviceable parts inside the UPS. The daily steps are area, air, room and the green indicator; the monthly steps are the system parameters and the optional air filters; and battery replacement and maintenance are reserved for authorized personnel. Source: Eaton's 91PS/93PS user's and installation guide P-164000493 Rev 006.
0:00 What does a maintenance visit check on an Eaton 93PS? What does a maintenance visit check on an Eaton 93PS? The manual draws a hard line: there are no user-serviceable parts inside the UPS. The daily and monthly steps are yours; everything else belongs to a visit by qualified service staff.
0:15 What is on you daily? What is on you daily? A clear area, unblocked air intakes and exhaust, a room within the specified environment, and a check that green is lit.
0:24 And monthly? And monthly? Monitor the system parameters, and where the unit has them, check the optional air filters.
0:30 What does the visit look for? What does the visit look for? The wear parts, before they become alarms. Eaton's lifecycle schedule for its three-phase UPS puts fans at about year 7 and sealed batteries at 3 to 5 years, and notes it varies by model; the visit is how the wear gets caught.
0:46 Who touches the batteries? Who touches the batteries? The 93PS battery strings are replaced to the original configuration, and the manual is explicit: only authorized personnel are allowed to do battery replacement and maintenance.
1:00 What about the bypass? What about the bypass? Yellow bypass means the load is on the bypass source and green goes out. On a maintenance bypass the load runs on unconditioned utility power, with no battery backup.
1:12 What are the call signs? What are the call signs? The manual's rule: call when the red alarm indicator is lit or the green normal indicator is not lit. We would add two of our own: an unrequested bypass, and repeated battery mode without an outage.
1:26 And the boundary? And the boundary? The symbols tell you the state at a glance: green normal, yellow battery or bypass, red alarm, and the door lights always show the most urgent condition. Messages land in the status bar and the Active Events log; any button silences the horn, and silencing does not remove the alarm.

The 93PS is a 3:3 (three-phase in and out) UPS from 8 to 40 kW, with up to 99% efficiency in Energy Saver System and above 96% in full double conversion. Its unity (1.0) output power factor means, in Eaton’s words, up to 20% more real power than many UPSs in its class, so a given kVA frame supports more kW of IT load. ESS switches to double conversion in under 2 ms, and the Variable Module Management System keeps efficiency high at low or redundant load. Power modules are hot-swappable (effective replacement MTTR near zero; the swap itself typically under 10 minutes), every model has built-in back-feed protection per IEC 62040-1, and acoustic noise is under 60 dBA in double conversion and under 47 dBA in ESS. Up to eight frames parallel with HotSync for a system to 320 kW.
