UPS service

UPS service for industrial plants, utilities and mining

We maintain and repair the industrial UPS systems that protect process controls, switchgear and plant networks: three-phase and single-phase units, their battery strings and their bypass arrangements, in rooms that are dustier, hotter or more remote than a data centre. We are a Canadian UPS service and supply provider since 2012. Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. We reply and quote within 4 business hours.

Electrical power room

Key facts

Dust, heat and airflow

Industrial rooms are where manufacturer intervals tighten. Vertiv's Liebert APM2 manual has the air filters cleaned or replaced once every two months in normal conditions and more often in dusty or other unclean environments. Eaton's 93PS guide has the site team check daily that the air intakes and exhaust are not blocked. Schneider Electric's Easy UPS 3M specification gives an operating range of 0 °C to 40 °C, with 20 °C to 25 °C recommended for the batteries, a range many plant electrical rooms do not hold in summer. We set the visit frequency from the room, not the calendar. Visit content: UPS preventive maintenance.

What an industrial visit covers

Battery rooms: UPS battery room ventilation and hydrogen.

Repairs on site and on schedule

A UPS fault in a plant can stop a line. Repair dispatch runs 24/7, and where the UPS is modular, a failed module can often be swapped with the load running: Tripp Lite states that SVX power and battery modules may be removed and swapped out while the UPS is in operation. Parts are quoted before they are fitted, and the bilingual written report records the fault, the part and the readings. Emergencies: emergency UPS repair.

Batteries, 600 V supplies and generators

Batteries for industrial and mining UPS cover the strings used in plant and utility systems; we replace strings as a set and handle the old batteries for recycling. Many Canadian plants distribute at 600 V: which three-phase UPS come in 600 V. Generator-backed sites: UPS and generator compatibility.

Response and contracts

Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. Remote mines and utility sites are scheduled ahead. Plants with several sites can put them on one contract: UPS maintenance contracts. The mining and industrial service program lists sector coverage, and system selection for new installations is on UPS for industrial sites.

Common questions

How often should an industrial UPS be maintained?

More often than in an office or data centre. Manufacturer manuals tighten filter intervals in dusty rooms; we set the schedule from the room's dust and heat, with at least one full visit a year.

Do you service UPS systems at remote mines and utility sites?

Yes. Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. Remote sites are scheduled ahead.

Can a plant UPS be repaired without stopping production?

Often. Modular units allow module swaps on line, and a maintenance bypass keeps the process supplied while the UPS itself is worked on.

Do you work on 600 V industrial UPS installations?

Yes, including native 600 V units and 480 V units fed through transformers.

What happens to the old batteries?

We replace strings as a set and handle the old batteries for recycling.
