UPS service

UPS service for the public sector

Federal, provincial and municipal bodies, hospitals, school boards and universities buy UPS service through tenders, standing offers and multi-year contracts. We bid on that work, maintain and repair UPS systems from rack units in wiring closets to three-phase systems in data centres and hospitals, and document every visit in a form that procurement and auditors can use. Service is bilingual, and response is same day in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa.

Key facts

How public bodies buy UPS service

We respond with a scope of work that names each system, the visit schedule and the response time per site. Our maintenance contracts page lists what a good scope should settle.

Services for public clients

Documentation and records

Public buyers need records as much as repairs. Each visit produces a report with readings, thermal images, parts replaced and recommendations, in English or French. Fleet clients receive an annual summary of every unit's condition, battery age and lifecycle status. Those records support audits, insurance reviews and the business case for capital replacement.

Departments and agencies can review UPS service terms written for government and public-sector buyers before drafting a tender. Health facilities that stock their own spares often order from battery sets selected for hospital and clinic UPS.

Hospitals and critical buildings

In healthcare and emergency services the UPS protects equipment that cannot stop, so the maintenance plan has to be stricter. Vertiv's reliability data concluded that two or more maintenance visits a year substantially increase UPS reliability, and that is the frequency we recommend for these sites. Work is planned with the facility's own procedures for shutdowns, infection control and access.

600 V buildings

Where a building distributes power at 600 V, a UPS offered only at 208 V or 480 V needs a transformer to connect. Some models are built for 600 V directly: Eaton says deploying its Power Xpert 9395P 600 V UPS eliminates the need for an external transformer. Our 600 V guide explains the options, which matter both for maintenance and for replacement projects.
