UPS service

UPS service for data centres and colocation sites

We maintain and repair the uninterruptible power supply systems that carry data centre and colocation loads: modular and monolithic three-phase UPS, their battery strings and their bypass paths, on a schedule built around the redundancy each hall actually has. We are a Canadian UPS service and supply provider since 2012. Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. We reply and quote within 4 business hours.

Key facts

What a data centre visit covers

Manufacturer manuals set the floor: Vertiv's Liebert APM2 manual asks for the battery terminal connections to be inspected and tightened at least once a year, and Eaton's 93PS guide asks for bolted connections to be re-torqued periodically. Visit content and intervals: UPS preventive maintenance.

Planned around your redundancy

The question in a live hall is what can be serviced while the load stays protected. A modular UPS with one spare module allows module work on line: XPC states the M90U-80 carries N+1 up to 60 kW with 20 kW modules, and a Galaxy VS with the Live Swap label accepts power module insertion and removal in any operation mode. Work on shared parts still needs a bypass window, and Schneider Electric's Galaxy VS manual is explicit that the batteries are not available as backup in maintenance bypass. We plan those steps with your operations team and your customers' change windows. Background: N+1 vs 2N and maintenance without a shutdown.

Battery strings in the white space

Heat is the battery string's main enemy: Vertiv's APM2 manual states that an average battery temperature of 35 °C instead of 25 °C cuts the battery's service life by 50%. We measure every block at each visit, report the strings side by side, replace a string as a set, and handle the old batteries for recycling. Battery options for data centre UPS fleets cover VRLA and lithium-ion strings by UPS model, and the on-site work is described in UPS battery replacement.

Response, reports and contracts

Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. Repair dispatch runs 24/7, and every visit ends with a bilingual written report that can go straight into an audit file or a customer SLA review. Multi-site operators can put every hall on one contract: UPS maintenance contracts and load-bank testing. Toronto halls: UPS service in Toronto. Our data centre service program lists the coverage in more detail.

Common questions

Can you maintain a data centre UPS without a shutdown?

Usually most of it. Module work can be done on line where the UPS has a spare module; work on shared parts needs a short bypass window, which we plan with you.

How fast do you respond to a data centre UPS fault?

Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. Repair dispatch runs 24/7.

Do you work in colocation facilities with customer change windows?

Yes. Visits and bypass steps are scheduled inside your change windows, and the bilingual written report can be shared with your customers.

Which UPS brands do you service in data centres?

All the major three-phase brands, including Schneider Electric, Eaton, Vertiv Liebert, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, Delta, ABB, Socomec and XPC.

Do you replace lithium-ion as well as VRLA battery strings?

Yes, both, measured block by block and replaced as a set, with the old batteries handled for recycling.
