Eaton and Powerware UPS repair

When the red alarm indicator of an Eaton UPS is lit, or the green indicator for normal operation is not, Eaton's 93PS guide tells the site team to call service. We diagnose and repair Eaton three-phase systems across Canada, current and discontinued, Powerware-badged units included, and quote the part before it is fitted.

Before the technician arrives

How a repair visit works

We read the event log, take measurements on the batteries and the power path, find the failed part, and quote the repair before fitting anything. After the repair, the UPS is tested back to normal operation and you get a written report of the fault, the part and the readings.

When the fault is the battery string, the work follows the steps on the battery repair page, and replacement blocks for Eaton cabinets are sourced through the Eaton battery collection.

Repairing discontinued Eaton units

Eaton publishes a service phase for each model in its End of Service Life master table. In the Mature phase, Eaton's own definition is best efforts: parts may be limited and product replacement is recommended. In the Retired phase there is no contract coverage from Eaton, but time and material services are available and preventive and battery services may be. A unit in either phase can still be maintained, and that is where most of our work on older Eaton and Powerware equipment sits.

For a 9390, a 93E or a BladeUPS, a repair still makes sense while parts and batteries can be sourced. When it no longer does, we quote a replacement next to the repair: UPS end of life and replacement.

When Eaton should do the work

Eaton's 93PS guide gives a warranty of twelve months from the original date of purchase, with repair or replacement made by Eaton or by a service provider Eaton approves, so a unit in that period goes to Eaton. Battery aging is a maintenance matter: the guide states that batteries are covered against failures in material and workmanship, not against normal aging.

Common questions

What does the red alarm light on an Eaton UPS mean?

That the UPS has an alarm condition. Eaton's 93PS guide tells the site team to contact service when the red alarm indicator is lit or the green indicator for normal operation is not. Note the display text before you call.

Can you repair a discontinued Eaton 9390 or BladeUPS?

Yes, while parts and batteries can be sourced. Eaton's End of Service Life table keeps time and material services available even for Retired models.

The UPS is stuck on bypass. Is the load protected?

It is powered, but by the utility alone, with no battery backup. Book a repair quickly and avoid planned work on the electrical supply until the UPS is back on inverter.

Do you repair Powerware units?

Yes. Older Powerware-badged systems are repaired the same way as current Eaton models.

How fast can you come?

Same-day service in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto and Ottawa; 24 to 48 hours elsewhere in Canada. We reply and quote within 4 business hours.
