What the APM2 manual asks for

• Battery terminal connections: inspected and tightened at least once a year.
• Screws: tightened periodically, at least once a year.
• Air filters: cleaned or replaced once every two months under normal conditions, more often in dusty or unclean rooms.
• Battery temperature: an ambient of 20 °C to 25 °C.
• A maintenance record kept for every visit.

The manual also states that service and maintenance must be performed by trained personnel only.

• Thermal scan of the power connections under load, then torque checks with the equipment safely isolated.

Battery temperature and service life

Vertiv's manual puts a number on the cost of heat: if the average battery temperature rises from 25 °C to 35 °C, the service life of the battery is reduced by 50%. A battery room that runs warm is the first thing we flag. The APM2's periodic battery self-test can be set from 30 to 360 days; it confirms the battery is active, while the block-by-block readings of a maintenance visit show which block is ageing first.

A maintenance contract fixes the visit schedule and the report format for one site or a fleet: UPS maintenance contracts. New large Vertiv systems are started up by Vertiv to keep the factory warranty in place; our contracts cover the years after that.

How often does a Liebert UPS need maintenance?

Vertiv's APM2 manual asks for yearly checks of the battery terminals and the screws, and air filters every two months in normal conditions. Most sites book one full visit a year and add a filter check in between, or a second visit in dusty rooms.

Does the battery self-test replace a maintenance visit?

No. The self-test, settable from 30 to 360 days, confirms the battery is active. It does not measure each block, check terminal torque or find a hot connection.

Do you maintain older NX and NXL units?

Yes, with the same visit, adjusted to the model's own manual, while parts and batteries can be sourced.
