Eaton 93PM vs APC Galaxy VS vs Vertiv Liebert APM2
The Eaton 93PM, APC Galaxy VS and Vertiv Liebert APM2 are all current modular double-conversion three-phase UPS. At 208 V the 93PM covers 10 to 200 kW, the Galaxy VS about 10 to 150 kW depending on voltage, and the APM2 10 to 150 kVA/kW, rising to 600 kVA/kW at 480/415 V. What the three have in common
Each is a modular frame filled with power modules, so capacity and N+1 redundancy grow without replacing the UPS. Each has a high-efficiency mode: Eaton's Energy Saver System, Schneider Electric's eConversion, and Vertiv's Dynamic Online and ECO modes. Each is listed as a current product by its manufacturer.
Where they differ
Power range and voltage. Eaton publishes two North American 93PM pages: the 93PM 208V (208 V and 220 V, 10 to 200 kW) and the 93PM 480V (50 to 250 kW in a 250 kW frame). The Galaxy VS comes in 208 V, 400 V and 480 V models, about 10 to 150 kW. The APM2 covers 10 to 150 kVA/kW at 208/220 V and goes furthest at 480/415 V, up to 600 kVA/kW.
Batteries. Eaton lists VRLA, AGM, gel, wet (flooded) and lithium batteries for the 93PM; its cabinet options include an integrated battery cabinet, small or large, and a lithium battery cabinet. The Galaxy VS can hold internal smart modular battery strings on its 10 to 100 kW models. The APM2 offers internal VRLA or lithium-ion batteries on its smaller frames.
Efficiency figures. Vertiv quotes 97.5% peak in double conversion for the APM2, 98.8% in Dynamic Online and 99% in ECO mode; Eaton and Schneider Electric quote about 99% in ESS and eConversion.
Which older models do they replace?
Eaton names the 93PM as comparable to the discontinued Eaton 9390 and as a replacement for the discontinued Eaton 93E. Schneider Electric names the Galaxy VS as the replacement for the discontinued MGE Galaxy 3500 and MGE Galaxy 5000. The APM2 is Vertiv's newer modular platform alongside the 208 V Liebert APM.
What about the APC Symmetra PX?
Schneider Electric Canada still lists the Symmetra PX in its 10 to 40 kW 208 V versions. Its 250 and 500 kW frames are discontinued, and Schneider points them to Galaxy VX models.
