Topology
A double-conversion (online) UPS turns incoming AC into DC and back into AC all the time, so the load is always fed by the inverter; a line-interactive UPS feeds the load from the utility through a regulator and switches to its inverter only when the supply fails. Every current three-phase family in the table below is double conversion; what separates them is the high-efficiency mode each adds and the efficiency each manufacturer quotes.

Sources, checked October 3, 2026: values as each manufacturer publishes them for the model shown; “Not stated” means the page we read does not give the value.
Each manufacturer names its high-efficiency mode differently: eConversion at Schneider (up to 99% on the Galaxy V-Series, where it is the factory default), Energy Saver System or ESS at Eaton (up to 99% on the 93PM and the 9395 family), Dynamic Online at Vertiv (up to 99% on the Liebert EXL S1 and 98.8% on the APM2), ECO at Vertiv, Delta and XPC, and eBoost at ABB (up to 99% on the TLE 160-1000 kW). Vertiv quotes a 0 ms transfer back to the inverter from Dynamic Online on the EXL S1.
At 500 kW of load, 97% efficiency means about 15.5 kW of losses and 99% about 5 kW: roughly 10 kW less heat to remove, around the clock. On smaller units the gap between modes is wider: Vertiv quotes more than 93% in double conversion and 99% in eco mode for the Liebert ITA2, and XPC up to 94% online and up to 98% ECO for the M90U-80.
Line-interactive UPS are mostly small single-phase rack and tower units. None of the three-phase families tracked on this site is line-interactive, so a three-phase quote that lists one deserves a second look at the topology.
Both topologies are listed among the UPS systems online, and UPS maintenance and repair across Canada covers either kind once it is installed.
Yes. Eaton lists the 93PM as double conversion with an optional Energy Saver System, up to 97% in double conversion and up to 99% in ESS.
Schneider's high-efficiency mode for the Galaxy V-Series, quoted at up to 99% and set as the factory default.
Vertiv's high-efficiency mode: up to 99% on the Liebert EXL S1, with a 0 ms transfer back to the inverter, and 98.8% on the Liebert APM2.
None of the current three-phase families we track is line-interactive; every one is double conversion.
